Twin DNA.

20-word story:

It was the last way Alex wanted to find out her twin was back.

"You contaminated the crime scene, Henderson!"

200-word story:

Finding out that she'd apparently contaminated the crime scene she was working at wasn't the way Alex had wanted to find out that her twin sister was back in town.

"Sloppy work," Detective Kash tutted. "Did you get anything useful?"

She must have had a haircut since I last saw her, Alex thought blankly. The short mousey brown strands she'd bagged at the scene had a neat edge from scissors.

"The DNA and fingerprints don't match," Alex managed.

"And?"

"And I'd like to have another go at the crime scene, sir," Alex said.

Kash waved her off. Alex grabbed her sample bags and rushed out of the lab.

What have you been up to, Sharon?

The murder had taken place in a flat rented for the weekend; the spotless standard it had been kept to should've made it easy to collect samples without fear of cross-contamination. Should've. Alex pulled on her gloves and started working, desperate to find something she'd missed the first time around.

Please, Sharon, I don't want to be the one who sends you to prison.

At least Alex had an alibi, so even if someone realised she hadn't contaminated the crime scene, she should be okay.
